Growing in Faith and Love
Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic School provides a nurturing, faith-filled Christian environment where students can grow in their love of God through weekly Mass, bible stories and activities, daily prayers and encouragement of respect for self, family, friends and the neighborhood in which we live. Our Early Childhood programs promote fine and gross motor development, language and social skills, positive school attitudes and an eagerness to grow in an unconditional love of God. Pre-Kindergarten 3 and Pre-Kindergarten 4
Welcome to Pre-Kindergarten at Jesus the Good Shepherd School! Here at JGS, we offer a hands-on learning experience that provides students with the opportunity to grow spiritually, socially, developmentally, and academically throughout the year. The PreK students at Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic School grow and learn through our focused, child-centered approach to learning. School readiness is at the core of the JGS PreK program.
Preschool Curriculum
Pre-Kindergarten is an important stepping-stone in establishing your child’s educational foundation. At Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic School, our comprehensive, hands-on program focuses on academics, social and emotional growth, and cognitive skills in a loving Christian environment. In addition, our young students learn the importance of respect, listening, sharing, taking turns, following directions and making good choices all while developing a love for learning. The JGS PreK 3 program offers a full-day curriculum with three-day and five-day attendance options. The PreK 4 program offers a full day, five-day per week curriculum following the Louisiana State Department of Education guidelines.
- 2 classes of PreK 3 with a maximum of 20 students per classroom
- 2 classes of PreK 4 with a maximum of 20 students per classroom

- Student to teacher ratio is 13:1
Kindergarten Program
Kindergarten builds upon the foundation laid in PreK 3 and 4, where your child is guided on how to work independently and collectively with ample time to learn through play. In Kindergarten, the emphasis turns to reading, writing and grade appropriate math principles. Families work alongside teachers to guide students on organizational skills and independent learning. Upon completion, your child will be first grade ready, confident, and prepared to continue learning.
